Program

Day 1: Arrival in Malta (-/-/D)

Meet and greet at the airport on arrival. Transfer to your hotel. Check-in, dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 2: Valletta (B/L/D)

Today is dedicated to visiting Valletta, Malta’s capital. The city has an amazing mix of military and Baroque architecture. During the day, discover the gardens of Upper Barracca, the Grand Master’s Palace and the Cathedral of St. John. Lunch during the visit. To end the day you will watch the audiovisual show “The Malta Experience” retracing 7,000 years of remarkable history of the island. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 3: Mdina – Rabat – Mosta (B/L/D)

Depart for Mdina, in the heart of the island. Visit the “City of Silence” that is, along with Valletta and Rabat, one of the most impressive architectural areas of the island. Free time to wander the streets to better understand the fascinating history of Malta and its ancient capital Mdina. Continue to Rabat and visit the Wignacourt museum a Baroque-style building, and former residence of the college chaplains of the Order of the Knights of Malta. Continue to the Ta ’Qali crafts center, where you will have the opportunity to appreciate the handy-work of several craftsmen (lace, weaving, blown glass and silver filigree). One of the highlights of this tour is a stop at “Bristow Potteries” where potters reveal their secrets. Lunch during the tour. Visit Saint-Marie church in Mosta, dominated by its huge, neoclassical dome which is 67m high, the third highest dome in the world. The day ends with a visit to the San Anton botanical gardens. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 4: Gozo (B/L/D)

Departure by bus to Cirkewwa on the west side of the island, followed by a 25-minute ferry crossing and then arrive in Mgarr, Gozo’s main port. En-route you will see Comino, another island of the Maltese archipelago, where only about thirty people live. Upon arrival in Gozo, head for Dwejra Bay, an impressive natural site which includes the Fungus Rock, a huge cylindrical isolated rock at the entrance of the bay and an inland sea that flows into the Mediterranean by a natural opening. Continue to Rabat to visit the citadel. A highlight of the visit to Rabat will be “Gozo 360°”, an audio-visual slide show on the big screen showing the history of the island. Then, visiting the Ggantija Megalithic Temples, where you can relax, then a stop in Xlendi, a charming seaside resort. Lunch during the visit. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 5: Free day: (B/-/D)

Optional: Half-day excursion to the prehistoric temples: This tour includes the famous Neolithic remains of Malta: Tarxien megalithic complex dating back to the year 2500 BC, the Ghar Dalam cave with bones of prehistoric animals and the Temples of Hagar Qim. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 6: South of the island and around the ports (B/-/D)

Depart by bus to the Dingli Cliffs and then on to the village of Siggiewi to visit “The Limestone Heritage”, a thematic museum on local stone, fascinating journey through the history of mining and working of limestone in the Maltese islands. Continue to Marsaxlokk fishing village where the “luzzu” can be photographed. These fishing boats have the eye of Osiris brightly painted on their bow. Lunch en-route. In the afternoon, tour the ports on board a yacht, an ideal way to see the impressive defensive architecture of St. John’s Knights and admire the creeks of Marsamxett Harbour and the Grand Harbour, considered the one of the most beautiful harbours in Europe. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 7: Palazzo Parisio and the Blue Grotto (B/-/D)

Free morning and lunch at the hotel. Depart for Palazzo Parisio built in the 18th century, a treasure trove of works of art and an endearing family home. Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Naxxar, this imposing palace is an amazing place that deserves to be explored. Discover the epitome of authentic Maltese nobility and its attractive lifestyle. Then a short walk in one of the old streets of Naxxar before going to the Blue Grotto. Dinner and overnight in St. Julian’s area.

Day 8: Departure from Malta (B/-/-)

Transfer to Mata airport.
