Baltic states : Must See

The Baltic countries, formed from North to South of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, make up a destination off the beaten track yet full of curiosities! Their three respective capitals, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, are attracting more and more travellers and bear witness to a rich history which has long been marked by the Soviet domination. Between national parks like Gauja, the Baltic Sea, castles and seaside resorts, the Baltic countries are not lacking in natural and cultural treasures. Travel Europe offers you an immersion into the Baltic way of life with "à la carte" programs tailored to your needs.

The coasts of the Baltic Sea

The coastal area of the Baltic Sea presents itself as a real treasure chest. The port cities in the Baltic region beckon with their unique craft and gastronomic traditions. The endless beaches and dunes are equally attractive. Along the coast there are numerous bathing and health resorts such as Pärnu (Estonia), Jūrmala (Latvia) or Palanga (Lithuania), which enchant the visitor.

The National Parks

The five Lithuanian national parks, including the famous Aukstaitija National Park, are rich in lakes and forests. The Gauja National Park in Latvia is one of the most visited nature reserves. In addition to its landscape of cliffs, caves and rocks, it is also home to the castles of Sigulda and Turaïda. In Estonia the national parks Lahemaa and Soomaa have an extraordinary fauna: bears, elks, lynxes, wolves, beavers,...

Vilnius

Vilnius impresses its visitors with its diverse cultural and architectural influences. The city is characterized by a baroque center, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The once small medieval town has had a huge impact across Eastern Europe over the centuries.

Riga

Riga welcomes you with ambience and dynamics of a large capital city, but it is manageably small. Its architecture, predominantly in Art Nouveau, is particularly surprising. The historic center is registered as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Don't miss: Rundale Palace, with its 48 publicly accessible rooms! You can also visit the seaside resort of Jurmala, about 20 km from Riga, with its wonderful beaches.

Tallinn

Nestled in the Baltic Sea and listed by Unesco, the Estonian capital will undoubtedly seduce you. Tallinn is a true medieval gem and can mainly be visited on foot. The old town consists of an upper town and a lower town, the historical core. Stroll the cobblestone streets, admire the red tile roofs and the elegant residences. The capital's charm also lies in its fortresses, which are among the best preserved in Europe.
